We are excited to welcome Dr. Rodeen Rahbar as the Chief Medical Officer for American Vascular Associates. A board-certified vascular surgeon with over 20 years of experience, Dr. Rahbar brings a wealth of clinical expertise and a strong vision for expanding high-quality outpatient vascular care across the AVA network.
Originally from West Virginia, Dr. Rahbar earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor, graduating in the top 4% of his class and earning induction into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He returned to his home state to complete his Doctor of Medicine at Marshall University’s Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. He then pursued both his general surgery residency and vascular surgery fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Rahbar began his career in academic medicine as an Assistant Professor of Vascular Surgery at George Washington University, where he quickly recognized the critical importance of early access to outpatient vascular care in preventing limb loss, improving patient outcomes, and reducing healthcare costs.
In 2014, he transitioned into private practice with a mission to improve access to high-quality vascular services in outpatient settings. Since then, he has performed over 1,500 outpatient vascular interventions with outstanding outcomes. He joined Surgical Associates Chartered in 2018 and was recently named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, ranking him in the top 7% of board-certified surgeons nationwide in his specialty.
Dr. Rahbar’s leadership, clinical excellence, and patient-centered approach make him a valuable addition to the AVA executive team as we continue to drive innovation and expand access to minimally invasive vascular care.
